This project involves the installation of a reinforced concrete floor slab for an industrial facility. Large industrial slabs must be constructed to handle heavy loads, regular machinery movement, and demanding operational conditions, making careful preparation and placement essential.
The first stage of the process involved preparing the area and installing a reinforcement grid across the slab footprint. Reinforcing steel plays a key role in improving the structural performance of concrete slabs by increasing tensile strength and helping control cracking over time.
With the reinforcement in place, concrete placement began using a pumping system. The red pipes visible on site form part of the concrete pump line, which allows the concrete mix to be transported directly from the concrete truck to the placement area. Pumping systems are commonly used for large slab installations as they allow concrete to be distributed efficiently across wide areas.
Using this setup, the concrete can be placed evenly across the reinforcement grid, ensuring proper coverage and consolidation around the steel. This helps eliminate voids, improves bonding between the concrete and reinforcement, and contributes to the overall strength and durability of the slab.
Industrial floor slabs require precise execution during every stage of construction, from reinforcement placement to concrete pouring and finishing. The BLOC Concrete Solutions team continues to progress through the installation process, ensuring that each step is completed with the accuracy and care required for a long-lasting result.
