Following the festive break, work resumed on this project to address a void that had formed beneath an existing factory floor slab. Voids beneath concrete slabs can develop over time due to soil movement, settlement, or erosion, and if left untreated they may compromise the stability of the floor.
To correct the issue, grout injection was used to fill the cavity and restore support beneath the slab. This method allows the underlying void to be filled without the need to excavate or remove the existing concrete floor.
The process began by drilling a series of small access holes through the slab in the affected area. These holes allow specialised grout to be injected beneath the concrete and directed into the cavity below.
A controlled grout mix is then pumped through the drilled holes, flowing into the void and filling the empty space beneath the slab. As the grout spreads and hardens, it restores contact between the floor and the supporting ground below, helping to stabilise the structure and prevent further movement.
Grout injection is commonly used in industrial and commercial environments because it provides an efficient way to repair subsurface voids while minimising disruption to the surrounding area. By filling the cavity and reinforcing the support beneath the slab, the floor can continue to perform safely without requiring major structural demolition or reconstruction.
Work on the stabilisation process is ongoing as the team continues addressing the affected area of the factory floor.
