At this factory site in Durban, the existing structure was demolished to make way for new construction works. Once demolition was completed and the area was cleared, preparation began for the installation of a new concrete floor slab.
The site was first levelled and prepared to ensure a stable base for the new structure. Reinforcement was then installed across the slab footprint, forming a steel grid designed to improve the structural performance of the concrete and help control cracking over time.
With the reinforcement in place, concrete was placed across the prepared area to form the new floor slab. Careful placement and finishing were carried out to ensure the slab achieved the required strength, level, and surface quality needed for the next stages of construction.
Concrete slabs form the foundation for many industrial and commercial facilities, providing a durable surface capable of supporting heavy loads and ongoing operational demands.
